LAWRENCE  KIRBY

Lawrence is 33 years old and is married to Philippa with 2 children, Ella & Caitlin. He was born in Zimbabwe but has lived in NZ for pretty much all of his life. He is the youngest of 5 children. He grew up in Nelson & Wanganui. Lawrence studied at Auckland University graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronic). Since then he has worked in the Electrical Industry, attended Bible College in Auckland , worked with young adults on the North Shore ; now he is leading Paraparaumu Family Church (since 2000) and ministering amongst the Kapiti Coast community.

Lawrence is passionate about people. He believes that every person is valuable and has something positive to contribute to our community. He has been following Jesus Christ’s teaching most of his life and believes that has helped him find purpose and meaning for his life. He believes that God wants the Kapiti Coast to be a great place to live for everyone who chooses to live here.

He is a Trustee for KIT because he sees that KIT will be a significant facilitator & resourcer of initiatives that benefit the people of Kapiti.  He is particularly passionate about the next generations (our children & young adults) and wants to see them given the environment where they thrive and have the chance to make history.

PAUL  WATSON

Career

I have worked in the ICT (Information & Communication Technology) industry for over 20 yrs.  I have progressed from a telephone technician to a computer technical engineer, installing and supporting computer networks, through to an instructor, a consultant and now a manager.  I currently work at NZQA, but most of my experience has been with vendors (Gen-i, Unisys, Trilogy) and running my own business with Jennifer (The LAN Connection Ltd).

I have a broad experience but my most current area of expertise is in management, strategy and processes.  I enjoy working with people and managing outcomes.  I have gained a wealth of experience from working in a demanding and challenging industry, with some very demanding customers and I plan to use this to benefit KIT.

Personal

I am the second child from a family of five children.  I was brought up in Taihape (even though we moved a number of times).  I have been married to Jennifer for 24 yrs and have two daughters, Gemma (16) & Rebecca (14).

I have attended church all of my life (more or less).  At the age of 14 I became a Christian.  My relationship with Jesus Christ has had the most profound influence on my life, and shaped me into the person I am today.

My family has endured economic hardship (early years) and tragedy, but I believe that God has used these circumstances to shape my character and that I am who I am because of the positive affects of these events on my life.  My marriage to Jennifer has been another significant positive influence that has shaped my life.

I believe with all my heart that God will use me to achieve great things if I submit to him and obey his call on my life.  I see KIT as a conduit that God will use to release his blessings into our community.

Career

After completing a Bachelor of Management Studies (Economics Major) at Waikato University I setup a pizza delivery company with some partners.  Over the next two years we grew the company to eight stores before I sold my shares.  Since then I have worked in roles such as National Training Manager, Regional Manager and General Manager for various fast food and consulting companies.  I am now Managing Director of Fieldpine Developments Ltd, a software development company, and a director of John Wheble & Associates Ltd, a consulting company that focuses on geothermal power station financing and construction.

In my various roles I have gained experience in business management, project management, business analysis and troubleshooting both in New Zealand and in Indonesia .

Personal

I was born in Oxford , England and have lived in a number of countries before finally settling in New Zealand .  In my last year of school I became a Christian.  After completing school in Auckland I moved to Hamilton to study a Waikato University .  This is where I met my wife and discovered my passion for missions.

While at University I became involved in Cutting Edge, a Christian student group and then later the pastoral training program at Hamilton Apostolic.  It is during this time that God worked in my life and gave me a passion for missions and church planting.  After this I assisted in starting a congregation in Hamilton and a church in Auckland .

I now live on the Kapiti Coast with my wife and four awesome kids and go to the Paraparaumu Family Church .
